A few years back, I made the acquaintance of Phil on Twitter. I don't remember exactly how but it must have been through sound. We got chatting here and there and one thing leading to another we agreed to meet for a week-end camping in Somerset. Phil brought along a small battery-powered synth and well... the rest is history as they say.
I've long been pulled towards synths but everything I found about them online was too dauting, too complicated, and too expensive. Phil opened my eyes to a different approach to music making, one that is hodgepodge, intuitive and playful. All of a sudden, it didn't matter that my music theory is zero and that my sense of rhythm is inexistent. All I needed was curiosity and a sense of playfulness, both of which I have.
But life gets in a way. There are only so many hours in the day to dedicate to hobbies and most of those hours, for me, were spent on a bicycle, with a camera, and with a pen. Then long covid happened and I lost the freedom I once had. Time changed and whirled into new opportunities. I dusted my tiny collection of small synths and got playing alongside Phil. We formed a duo called Humilis and last week-end produced this track, the first of many more to come I hope.
Nice track. I'm curious about the synth/gear you used. I always like the idea of making music but have absolutely no musical background.
